Hello Everyone,

I need your help regarding saving the InfoPath instance to same filename. Here is the brief description of my requirement

I designed a client based InfoPath 2007 form and published onto the library as an XML (so that each instance or list item created will be an XML file). And a workflow is associated to this library for creating new list item ( i.e, XML instance), whenever there is any change to existing items. So my question is how can I retrieve the instance name (i.e., File1.xml) when it is clicked or opened, so that I can set this filename to a textbox control field in Infopath and use this field in 'Submit' to overwrite to the same instance.

I dont know how to retrieve the filename in Loading event, when the form is opened to edit. Is there any webservice or any function avaialbe to get the filename.

Hi Suhail,

You really should not need to retrieve the filename when the form opens, if you are submitting a regular (out of the box) SharePoint submit data connection to a form library. From InfoPath, did you do File > Publish to create the SharePoint form library? Here are some links that may help:

The reason I need to retrieve the filename is to submit the form to same file or simply saying overwriting on the same opened form. However I found the way to retrieve the filename opened for editing. I appreciate your reponse. Thank you.
