    Input Parameters View Switching

For new features in qRules 2.1 it says:

Input Parameters View Switching - copy Input Parameters to your main data source on load and use to switch views (codeless!).

Is there an example somewhere on how to do this?

My steps aren't working as follows:

    1) Have a url to open the form with a parameter added "?switchview=true"
    2) I'm able to get the parameter passed successfully into the form
    3) In Form Options set a rule to check if the switchview hidden field contains "true" then switch views

I think the problem is that #3 happens before #2 all the time because in the documentation it says:

There is no way to get to the input parameters outside of the Loading event first occurring, and, in InfoPath, rules always run before code. Therefore, Open Rules will not have access to the input parameter data. This is why we designed our form to use a rule in finishedLoading to load the information, instead of using Open Rules.

Can anyone point me to how to get this to work since one of the new features says:

Input Parameters View Switching - copy Input Parameters to your main data source on load and use to switch views (codeless!).

    Re: Input Parameters View Switching

    Hi Gil,

You're right - this is not possible and I must apologize for marketing a feature that I thought was possible, but sadly is not. I have asked our Website admin to update the page so we aren't advertising something that can't be done. It's a limitation of the order in which the rules fire and the fact that you can't have view switches happen as a rule on value changes.

However, you could do the following: add a conditional section to the top of the form that shows when input variables are passed in and when they indicate the view should be switched. The conditional section has text that says something like "An update is available for your form. Click here to accept the update and edit your form: " and then have a button that switches to the view.

I hope that helps. I'm sorry for the mistaken marketing. Please accept two free hours of Qdabra Support as my token gesture for the time you spent investigating this.

    Yours truly,

    Hi --

I've sent you an email through the forum on this as well, but I've added another command to the next version of qRules that will do this -- at least if your need is a form that will open with a specific view based on the parameter passed to it. Let me know if you'd like to beta test it, and I'll get you a copy...
