InfoPath is a great tool, but it regularly breaks my heart. I just this week learned I could call functions from rules by using xdExtension (thank you, Greg Collins). The heartbreak comes in with the fact that I don't seem to be able to change the value of a node when calling xdExtension. Instead, I get an error stating that the node is protected. If I run the exact same function from an onclick event--no problem, the node can be changed.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this problem?
