I've been trying to filter a dropdown box within a repeating section.
The filter is supposed to ommit the selection in all previous sections' dropdown boxes.

When I run the form each dropdown box has no data.

I'm not sure whether it's something in my XPATH logic or if it is somethings else.

I'm using the filter statement...
node != current()/preceding-sibling::dropdownbox

ex.
-InfoPathForm
--new repeating section--dropdown box--filter: all nodes that are not in previous dropdown box
--new repeating section--dropdown box--filter: all nodes that are not in previous dropdown box
--new repeating section--dropdown box--filter: all nodes that are not in previous dropdown box

You are not too far off. The XPath can get confusing...

You need to use an XPath like the following:

not(. = preceding::my:group2/my:field1)

This will remove any existing selected value from the choices available to the other drop-downs

Is this the same case as this: 3 autopopulated drop down fields are the same in each repeating section. If I change one, doesn't matter where, they all get changed.
Sidenote:(Once the info is submitted to the database, those same 3 fields are only in the first record of those repeating sections.)

Is xpath the way?

I'm not sure i fully understand the question. You form has a repeating section in which there are three dropdowns. The dropdown values are autopopulated and when you change the value of one dropdown the value of that that dropdown across all sections is changed?

How are you autopopulating these dropdowns?
