    using sql authentication with infopath and sql server webservices

    hi guys

    i've got a problem that can't be as complicated as i'm making it out to be.

    i've got an infopath form that writes to a table using a web service. the problem is that using NTLM authentication is a problem as alot of users will have to use the form that are not users on the db.

    how can you use sql authentication and specify login details? does infopath only support NTLM auth?

    is there a way to grant every user access to the endpoint? it wouldn't be a problem for me if everyone can use the endpoint.

    my endpoint is shown below.

    thanks
    niel

    CREATE ENDPOINT tmp_ndv_Finance_endpoint

    STATE = STARTED

    AS HTTP (

    AUTHENTICATION = ( ntlm ),

    PATH = '/sql/demo',

    PORTS = ( CLEAR ),

    site = 'cptdb19'

    )

    FOR SOAP (

    WEBMETHOD

    'tmp_ndv_webmethod'

    (NAME = 'dbcubelog.dbo.usp_tmp_ndv_Finance'),

    NAMESPACE = 'http://tempUri.org/',

    BATCHES = disabled,

    WSDL = DEFAULT

    )

    Sounds like a limitation of end points. Have you tried setting Security permissions on the endpoint? Maybe you can then have the endpoint impersonate one user.

    The other option would be to install Qdabra's Web Service (DBXL) which allows you to configure permissions at the XSN or XML level using Active Directory groups/users. Might save you time since the Beginner license is <$500 and time is money...
