Receive data from Sharepoint List... logic on columns.

    Good afternoon,

Not sure if this is possible but I'll ask anyways!

I'm creating a form where I want to query a specific column in my sharepoint list.

Example - I have a infopath field called "referral name".  A user enters a name here (John Smith)  What I'd like to do is query a corresponding list column in sharepoint to look for that name.

If it finds the name in the column, then I'd like it to do other actions. (which I can figure out.)

I'm curious if this type of querying is possible with String values, or if this is just a pipe dream.

are you asking you have a text box on which you want to filter data if so yes it is possible create a data connection to the list and assign it to some field (say fieldA).

Then check the value fo fieldA if it is not empty you can perform other actions
