Exception error on 3 items in a SharePoint list when pulling data into InfoPath

    Hello everyone!

I have a configuration where I have a form that I am filtering data in three fields on the form from one SharePoint List.  It has been working very well until recently.  I am unsure what has changed.  I did mark the  three fields in the form as required, but it only errors on three categories.  Let me clarify... In my list, I have a Category, Cost Code, and then Item Description.  There are 2000 list items with a mix of three choices above.  Three of the categories, when selected in the form, produce the following errors:

Business logic failed due to an exception. (User: COMPANYNAME\administrator, Form Name: Contract Request Form, IP: , Request: https://SITE/_layouts/Postback.FormServer.aspx, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:Contract-Request-Form:-myXSD-2009-04-17T15-20-35, Type: NullReferenceException, Exception Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.)

Any help on direction would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Re: Exception error on 3 items in a SharePoint list when pulling data into InfoPath

null reference exception occurs when you try to acces a variable that is not there. In infopath forms it occurs when you are trying to access a field that has not been defined for the particular form. if you are programatically creating the form make sure that you are writing all the fields to the file.

can you let us know how you are creating the form (programatically, or by clicking new in doc lib).

is the form opened in client or browser.

are you creating an infopath data connection or using code to get the data
