    fields in repeating table

    I want the user to enter the value of a control only in the first row, and then automatically assign that value to the same column every time the user inserts a new row in the repeating table
    is this possible?

    set the default value for the field to equal the field in the first row:

    fieldX = ../Row[1]/fieldX

    You should be able to do this from the InfoPath UI.
