Anyone out there willing to help, problem is below. Need a solution ASAP

    Hello,

Sorry if I am a pain. But, I need a solution urgently. I think my client is walking away from my almost finished package.

After 8 months of designing an InfoPath system, I have a user who wants to massage the form output. So far as I believe the data in a form that is exported to word is not editable.

I have tried to write a Print form, with dropdown boxes. I tried writing the dropdown box selected valuesto separate text boxes. Then copy that form to Word, does not seem to work.

I have now used the export to EXCEL command in the File sub commands. It works, a bit messy. I have written a macro that formats all the data needed in the Excel form. But I am at a loss how to automate transfer of that EXCEL data in to MS Word.

Do you have to use XML technology. That was a thought for extracting data from InfoPath to Word. But what I want is to not have all text boxes transferred to Word. The ones not wanted are the blank, unselected fields, controls, or any other variable used in InfoPath.

I have begged, and asked for ways to neatly develop a procedure to transfer InfoPath data to Word, I have been led to believe that whatever is available is too messy, and complicated, and not worth pursuing.

WHAT I AM TRYING to find out is, as mentioned above, and in my last query.
Is there a way of transferring data from Excel, like you could in older versions of Excel and Word ( Can't seem to be able to do it now???????).
OR,  as mentioned above, to transfer InfoPath data to Word?

    Please help

    Thanks

    Ian

    Hi Ian,

I have responded to the other thread you posted with a similar question. I thnk Word Smart Documents are a way to get XML data into Word. Word should load the entire XML so all of the hidden ones will also be transferred and imported.

Still the question remains: why are you exporting to Word?

Perhaps InfoPath is not the best tool for your solution.

    Hello Patrick,

    Thanks for the reply.

This system I am developing, is the same one I have been working on since the beginning of November 2008. It is soo close now.

I have used the Export to Xcel function in the File menu bar, only download the current form, I do not want any other data set up in the system.

I have successfuly exported to Excel.

I have written an Excel VBA Macro to clean up the Excel data, ready for exporting to Word.
It is now finished, as such, I have yet to add security.
I was concerned that the macro that I created was not visible on the new Excel spreadsheet (exported from InfoPath).
So I added instructions for the user to follow from A to Z. That is from InfoPath to the finished product in Word.  It looks good.
One instruction was to load up the blank Excel spreadsheet which had the Macro installed.
I don't seem to be able to load up the Macro into the Ribbon bar for the system. I was hoping that could be done, to save the worry on the previous sentence.

Again, I was concerned about the macro not being there in Word. But Word seems to remember macros, on the computer.

It looks good, I really have to give it a though testing, checking for bugs, etc. You know.

Then I can hand this system over to the doctor.
