    Help with Duplicates

Preceding sibling is probably the best way to go to get rid of the duplicates in a single dropdown.  The dropdown is using a datasource from SQL.  I have it filtered on a ID number which works fine but there are too many duplicates.  I've tried running all kinds of filters but i still can't reduce the list.  Tried finding examples on just a dropdown, most of these preceding siblings has something to do with repeating list.  Please help.  Thanks.

Are you using InfoPath 2003 or 2007? I'm guessing 2003, since 2007 has an option of not displaying duplicates....

You can use XPath (with preceding-sibling) to filter. You can also modify the SQL statement in your SQL data connection that you are using to return the list, or you can create a view in SQL that just has the distinct values you want for your list.

I am using 2007, I know there is an option to use the unique values but it still lists all of those repeating values or i am just not telling it where to filter properly after that box is checked to display a unique value.  I will look into the SQL side to see if there is anyway to prevent the duplicates.  There are 28 items per value that I am seeking from drop down and it display all 28, but not to filter to the exact value that i want out of the 28 items that is linked to that one item.  I just built my first database, it is all new, I must be leaving something out.  Thank you for your time.
