Email Popup when you submit a form via email

I have created a form with 3 submit buttons - one when you submit a request, one when the request is approved and one when the request is completed. I put rules in that will send an email to the appropriate person. However, my boss doesn't like the email form that pops up when you click the button. Is there some way to keep that box from popping up?

    Thanks!

    Welcome!

That's the Hundred Million Dollar Question that every asks. The answer is no. It is there for security reasons to prevent SPAM and other unintentional malicious use of a person's email address.

    Hi Suzanne,

As Greg said, for security reasons this is not allowed in InfoPath. However, if you are really ambitious there are always workarounds :-)

I recognize this might be something that is totally not possible for you or soemthing that you even want to attempt, BUT one alternative to this would be if you were submitting the form data to SQL. Within SQL you can setup access to SMTP servers and autogenerate emails based upon conditions you setup in SQL. These would be totally independent events from InfoPath but it is possible to drive an entire email notification system outside of InfoPath and thus elimniate those popup boxes.

Ted, do you have a quick sample of how this works? Just some stub code, etc?

I'd be interested in this workaround.  Could you give me more information?  I have a few developers who could help me with this if I need it.

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

I am working on a project for a client right now where this is a requirement.  We are in the process of getting this configured.  We have done this before for a couple of clients.

The basic procedure is to use triggers on tables in SQL.  You set up the trigger in SQL to send email.  The trigger activates on INSERT, UPDATE etc.  So when an InfoPath form is submitted to SQL the trigger is called and code is run that sends the email.  You need to have SMTP access for the server, although you don't have to have SMTP configured on the server where SQL is.

Here is a link you can read more about triggers:

    Hi all,

this is more a question as a statement but wouldn't it be much easier to just use managed code (c#) and use a MailMessage object instead of a MailEnvenlope to send the notification. As far as I know you could achive exactly what you want ?!?
