    web services + sharepoint

    hello

I have a form, wich uses a web service to retrteive some informations from the AD.

When I preview the form from my computer everything works fine.
When I published the template on a form library in sharepoint, when i oppened the form tu fill it, the web service didn't work.

I didn't receive any error message. It looked like the application didn't know about the web service. What happened? Was the reference to the web service lost when i published the form on sharepoint?

    Hi Basescu,

I've never heard of a web service connection being blown away when publishing to SharePoint, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. Here are some things to try:

    1. Make a sample form to make sure that the web service is returning something (maybe the call is successful, it just seems bad b/c nothing is returning)
    2. Make sure the domain for the web service is in your Local Intranet trusted sites in IE's options dialog.
    3. Try connecting to a different web service (such as a free public one)

    Hi Basescu,

I would also try navigating to the .asmx page of the web service in a browser on a computer in the same domain as the SharePoint site that you have published the form to. If you can't get to the .asmx page from there then InfoPath is probably going to have issues as well.

It could be a permissions issue of some kind.

I created the web service with Visual Studio 2005, which is based on .net 2.0, and the infopath application with infopath 2003, but developed with Visual Studio 2005. On the other hand the sharepoint is sharepoint portal server 2003, which is based on .net 1.1. Using differnet .net Frameworks is the problem?

    Re: web services + sharepoint

    hello

Now I published  the form on sharepoint office 2007(wss 3), and it didnt work.

When i am running the form from within the vs2005, with build and run without debugging, it works fine, with its web service.

I used a try{} catch(){} to obtain some information abaout the error.

So when i tried to fill the form from sharepoint i obtained this:

System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet) at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest..ctor(Uri uri, ServicePoint servicePoint) at System.Net.HttpRequestCreator.Create(Uri Uri) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri, Boolean useUriBase) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebRequest(Uri uri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebRequest(Uri uri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.GetWebRequest(Uri uri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at CerereInvoire.sp2007.Service.GetNume(String userName) at CerereInvoire.CerereInvoire.OnLoad(DocReturnEvent e) The action that failed was: Demand The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Net.WebPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: Intranet

    Can you help me?

    Basescu.

    Re: web services + sharepoint

If you're publishing the form to a sharepoint server that is located on a different box, you'll need to publish the connection to the sharepoint server as well. You basically create the connection file, upload it to sharepoint, then go into the infopath form and point the form to the stored connection file. I'll try to get a tutorial up on my blog (I might have one posted? I can't remember :-) ).

FYI, Sharepoint typically has a folder just for connection strings so store it there.
