Securely removing Design mode on a Form

Option 1 Use Enable Protection on the Advanced tab in the Tools\ Folder Options.

Option 2 Somewhere in Microsoft Office Resource Kit, a tool to disable opening in design mode.

I tried option 1 and was able to get in and open up a form in design,
I got the warning prompt, made changes, saved. And ran the form.

Now I don't want the form to be opened at all in any way, in DESIGN mode by the user.

I don't want my unpaid work to be copied.

Without testing option 2, I think the only way to secure the Form, is option 2.

    Hello,

We can restrict to open the form in design mode if we check that ‘Enable Protection' checkbox. Are you able to open that form in design mode after doing the above step also?

    Hello Shiva,

As I explained above, I used option 1, as you described above as well, yet if I was another person, or user of my product, I could open the form in Design mode.

The checkbox Enable Protection is only good for preventing a person from going into Design mode whilst having the form open in run mode.

    Hi Ian,

Where is the form published? Can't you change the file permissions on the XSN to prevent writes by unwanted users?

    Hi Patrick,

The form at this point will not nor ever be published. It will be  kept at the customer site. After all the work I have spent putting it together I don't want anyone else stealing my thunder!

I have designed a Menu driven application (all in InfoPath), So I guess I could position the front end menu form somewhere with only the enable protection on.

And all other forms in a secure folder.

I am not sure if Write protection is much value. 'Save As' can overcome any restrictions placed by the 'enable protection".

I s'pose any canny person out there will seek help there.

I have downloaded the Office resource kit. Not sure where it was installed. It may be of use.  I have a second computer with XP Pro, but not connected to the net.

I am think ing of using the Computer fr the work involved with DBXL and qRules.
And maybe other cues and clues for securing the System I have deveoped.

Looking forward to some great replies,  All else have a great weekend.

    Ian
