Well, since I've finished my first infopath form I wanted to see where it could actually help me in my day to day routines. I have an excel spreadsheet of all my Mobile Devices for my office. I have a few tabs and it calculates the number of Blackberry License that I have used. It keeps track of Contracts End Dates and Donated Devices.
What I've done so far is replicate the Excel spreadsheet into Infopath. What I wanted to do is Under Location put in a filter for each View. If the filter contains Donated it will show in the Donated View. On the (Verizon View) I have a filter that says show all that do not contain Donated. For some reason when I input my first set of data it will works perfectly. My first line shows on the Verizon View and then it does not appear on my Donated View. Then I insert another line and it shows in both spots. Maybe I have my filter on the wrong area. I filtered based on the repeating table under location. My locations would either be office locations, or it will be designated Donated.
Another problem I'm having is I have a count, it counts the number of Blackberry Devices. For some reason on the Views it counts the Donated items that are not appearing on the particular view as taking up a license Is there a way to only count on a particular view?
So far I've found this but it doesn't seem to help my situation: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870843
Well, I see in the preview of the form you can do a refresh filter. I guess what this accomplishes is that you don't have data automatically disappear on you. I guess I can live with this. It's still counting the filtered data, I searched the forums and there was someone who touched on it, so I copied the formula into my formula but it didn't work. They were saying you have to filter out the data in your formula. Not really sure how to do this.
I keep getting an error that says Cannot place filter in this field choose another field.
