    Views and query button

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem that is really bugging me:
I created a form connected to an Access db, which has multiple views (A and B, to make it simple).

in view B i inserted a Query button and the problem is that when it is pressed the form switches to view A. This is driving me crazy!!!

    Any suggestions?

    Thx

Hello and welcome to our forum!

I am wondering if you're using InfoPath 2003 original version (non SP1/2). InfoPath 2003 did this thinking that the query parameters would be on the first view and then after the query is executed it switches to the second view. This is obviously very confusing and they changed it later.

First, can you confirm that you're on InfoPath 2003 SP2 or later?

Second, you may need to create two new views, copy/paste everything into the new views, then delete the old views. This should break the linkage. This is just a guess and there may be an easier way, I haven't actually tried it.

I hope this helps. I know it's very frustrating and fortunately in later version of InfoPath they got rid of that design pattern.

    Hi Shiraz,
I am using Infopath 2003 SP2 and today I also tried with infopath 2007 (as you did, I was also thinking hat it was related to the version I was using), but the result is the same :(

    Thx for your help!

    Hi Lorenzo,

Hmm, this doesn't make much sense. Maybe you should try changing the default view?

Unfortunately I cant change the default view to the page with the query button, especially because I have queries on multiple views.

There must be a way to set the button not to switch to default view after clicking the button, or the utility of multiple views is quite limited, unless there is a different way to have a form with multiple pages.

    Thx

I'm having the opposite issue. When I click the query button on my Default page, the screen does not change and stays on the Default page.

After doing some research, I have found that if you create your Form using the Design Form from New Data Connection, then you get my problem.

Maybe you can try using the New Data Connection wizard to build your form. This should paralyze the query button from switching views.

    I hope this works!
