    Data Connections

I have created an Infopath form and connected to an Access database.

On my computer the form adds new records to the database but on any other computer on the network I receive an error saying

"Infopath cannot connect to the data source, it may not be properly installed"

Is it possible to share the data source when publishing so that when a user opens the form they can add a new record regardleess of the computer they are on?

Where is the Access database you are using located?  Other users of your form should be able to use the form with no problem if they are able to connect to the database.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, when logged in as another user on a different computer the Access database is accessible.

If I create a form on the second computer the second user can then add new records using the infopath template created on their computer.

It just appears that I receive this error whenever a template is accessed on a computer other than it was created on.

    Thanks again for your help!

You might think the form is trying to connect to the same database location from the other computer when it really isn't.

When creating the Main Connection to the database file, don't use the Browse button to locate the database on the network - the resulting path may include drive letters/mapped drives that are specific to the computer you are designing the form on, instead manually type in the URN path to the database. This is usually something like //computerName/shareName/folderName/folderName/databaseFile.mdb

Using the Browse button will automatically change the path to the database to using any mapped drive letters you have set up on the designing computer.

It's just one possible cause - but one I know I was caught with a few times.
