Error installing ADService on Windows 2008 server (x64)

    Hi all

We planning on moving our SharePoint Portal Server with all our web enabled InfoPath forms to a new server. I have installed the server and added frameworks 1. When I try to install the ADService I get the following error:

The specified path "htpp://myserver/ADService" is unavailable. The Internet Information Server might not be running or the path exists and is redirected to another machine. Please check the status of this virtual directory in the Internet Services Manager

The IIS is installed and seem ok

     Any body have an idea???

     Regards Rico

By default, Qdabra's AD WebService is installed at http://<servername>/QdabraAD/AdUserInfo.asmx

Could you look in C:\inetpub on the server's file system and verify the location where the service was installed?

    Hi Jimmy

It wont install at all - the error I get comes just after I have selected the second page with "Installation Address" (the one with Virtual directory and Port)

On the old server it was installed under http://myserver/ADService/ADUserInfo.asmx, not /Qdabra

Are you talking about the LDAP path?

We have a tool that allows you to detect the LDAP path (DC=whatever). Check it out here:

    Hi Ernesto

The installation process stops before I have to specify my LDAP string ( I know what my LDAP string is :-) ). It stops on the page where you have to specify Virtual Directory (standard = ADService) and Port (standard = 80). Normaly I dont change these and just choose next - And here I get the error

In Server Manager under the Roles, click Web Server (IIS), make sure all items under IIS6 Management Compatibility are installed.

    Hey Rico.

I worked with Jim on a full DBXL install on 2008 and 64bit with MOSS and we had to remove the automatic webdav fix to get it to work correctly.  I am not sure how similar the stand alone AD service install is but there may be an issue with that configuration.  I beleive Jim is working on 2008 / 64 bit testing and verification.

    Hi all

Thanks for all your answers - problem solved - I was logging as an domain administrator when the error was there. I tried as local administrator on the server and now everything works fine. Sorry for bothering you all.
