Please Help - Data Sources Locked

    Im a newbie!

I have been developing a form in InfoPath... at one point I had all sorts of errors that I could not Preview my form... saying it was edited outside of the XML ... The only way I could fix this issue was to copy and paste my contents into a new form and re-configure/re-do my data sources and re-map the controls...basically starting from scratch.. So, I am now happy that my form is not "crashing" every time I preview it... (Was this a common error? Is infopath stable for enterprise deployment? These errors really scared me! and Im thinking of ditching Infopath and starting fresh with a PDF form)

Anyway, now when I try to edit my data sources... make new groups .. add items, etc. all of the data sources are locked (with a little padlock icon in the corner of each group) and I have no options available. What have I done wrong? How can I fix this?

    Some of my other issues/headaches
    1. How do I get a border on a combo box? I can get the contents of the pull-down underlined... but not a full border... This is for Print purposes where my text boxes all line up with nice underlines under the entire cell.. but the pulldowns only underline the selected word only
    2. How do I format the contents of a cell to always be in UPPERCASE

Thanks for any help you may provide.

To answer your two questions at the bottom of your posting:

    1. Combo boxes can't take borders. This is not an InfoPath limitation, but an Internet Explorer limitation that carries over to InfoPath because InfoPath uses Internet Explorer to render its views.

    2. Place a default value formula on the field that converts the typed in content to uppercase. The XPath would be:

    translate(., "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz", "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ")

Make sure that the check box is selected to update the contents when they change.
