Hi,

I have faced strange behaviour with my Infopath 2007 project. The form worked fine untill I added new data connection of type 'receive data'. Even if I hadn't actually used the data connection in any field in the form this message prompts right after I click the first 'Submit' button in the form. The most strange thing is that the dataconnection I added and caused this error, doesn't have anything to do with the first submit button in the form. The other interesting thing is, that I have other 'Receive data' dataconnections to almost identical lists in the Sharepoint, which work fine.

I have also tested opening infopath form in the Infopath client. This way the form works as it is expected to. The problem arises only when I open the form in browser. Design checker doesn't give me any errors.

 Can you please give me some ideas of what causes this error?

Hello Welcome to the Forums,

Whichever you took the receive connection in InfoPath it is giving error while submitting the form. Can you check once again where you are using that receives connection in your form? If you want to check the receive connection is working correctly or not, while taking the receive connection you have to check the "Automatically retrieve data when form is opened" check box. Try to open the form then it will open successfully with out giving any error then your receive connection is correct.

The form opens correctly, but when I click first button in the form (which includes actions: 'set field value' and ,'switch view'), the form prompts 'The form has been closed' message.

This must be somehow connected to the receive data connection, because the form works fine when I delete this data connection. This is very strange because this dataconnection is not conected to any fields or rules in the form.

I dont have a clue about what is the reason for this... Does anybody have?

Hi,

Here the problem may be because of cross domian. Try changing your new receive data connection to udcx connection.

Hi,

I would recommend checking the log file to see exactly what the problem is first:
Go to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS" (or wherever your SharePoint logs are)
Repeat the operation that causes a failure in IPFS and check the latest entry in the log (it should have "Forms Server" in it). It should give you a clue to what specifically is wrong. You can also use the Application Event Viewer to get some more details.

Were you able to approve the udcx connection on the SharePoint site? If not, you need to approve it by doing the following steps:

1. Navigate to your data connection library.
2. Click the down arrow of the udcx file you just created.
3. Click the toggle for Approve/reject.
4. Select Approve in the next page.
5. Click OK.

You need to make sure that all requirements for IPFS are set for you to start submitting from browser.

Been there, done that :) So I have approved the UDC files. I have done +100 hours of work with this project and tackled many hard issues, but this bug makes me crazy.

It seems that any secondary data connection I add to the form template will not work anymore. Not even the one I had already in use and which worked fine. If I delete that and create it again, it will not work. No matter how I try (in XSN or converted to UDCX)

Does the fuctioning of dataconnections depend on the way the form template is published (to document library / as site content type)?
