Go the the Advanced Settings for the Form Library - your should see this:

    Browser-enabled Documents

Specify how to display documents that are enabled for opening both in a browser and a client application. If the client application is unavailable, these documents will always be displayed as Web pages in the browser.
    Opening browser-enabled documents
    Open in the client application
    Display as a Web page

You've published the form already?  And you're opening it from SharePoint, not through InfoPath?

That is correct, i pubished the form and did the advance options under the form library, but when i open a new document it still opens in client infopath and not a browser, i am working on a local virtual pc with all the software on it.

Ok i think i got it, but i am using a webservice to pull from sharepoint user info to prepopulate fields and it is not working in sharepoint but it is in infopath. So the first problem is fixed i can get it to open in a browser.

    Hi bradyw,

This is just to rule out before you encounter any problems on IPFS. When designing your InfoPath form, you create these steps:

    1. Click File > Design a Form Template

    2. Select Blank (or whichever applies to you)

    3. Click Enable browser-compatible features only check box

Make sure you were able to check #3.

    Then, after form is created:

    4. Click Design Checker on task pane

    5. Click Change Compatibility Settings link

    6. From there, Form options will load. Make sure you enter the correct URL to point to your server's InfoPath Form Services

    Thanks,
