    submit and email problem

i have a form on SP that when submitted it also sends an email.  the form submits and the email is sent BUT here is where my problem is, in the data connection for the email the subject comes through no problem but the introduction doesn't show.  why is comments that i put in the introduction not coming over in the body of the email?   i did have the form not send the form or data in the email so i'm not sure if that is causing my problem or not.

ultimately i want the email sent without the form or data but a couple lines of text giving them the path the SP doc library.

    thanks,

    Hello,

What are the data you want send in introduction of the mail? Is it plain text or any field data? If plain text then it should directly show in introduction of the mail otherwise field data then you have to check that field is contains the data or not?

How you are sending the mail using code or from InfoPath form?

i have a data connection that gets the email address from a field in the form.  in the subject field it concats 2 fields and the introduction has text and a url.  in the submit i use a rule to submit to sharepoint then it sends the email notice.

    thanks,

    Re: submit and email problem

I have the same problem but can shed a little more light with some questions.

I also use the instruction section of the email data connection to tel users what to do with the form.  All of my forms were developed in IP 2003 and everything worked well.

We are testing an Office 2007 rollout and what I find is that when using 2007, the introduction does not transmit even though it shows in the pop up when the mail is being sent.

I even went back and resaved the 2003 form as a 2007 template and same "no introduction" issue.

I then created a new form in 2007 and the introduction transmitted correctly.

So was your form originally created in 2003?  What version of Office/ Outlook are you using?

Does anyone have any knowledge about a problem with 2003 to 2007 upgrades and this issue?

    Thank you for your Help.

    Re: submit and email problem

i did figure out a work around for my problem.  i wanted to send an email and send the url to the SP library but i didn't want any of the form data to be included in the email.

on the submit button i have 2 rules. 1 submits the form to SP and leaves the form open.  2 changes the view.

in the new view i have a text box that displays the email address and a bit of text and the url to the SP library and a button labeled "Send Email"

i have a rule on the "send email" button to send the form (current view) to the email address then close the form.

the results are the forms gets submitted to SP and switches the view and the email gets sent and it includes the text and url.

and extra click of the button for the users but it works.

by having the view changed then prompting the users to send the email.  making 2 completely different steps was the only way i could get the text and url to be sent in the email.  otherwise the email would get sent so fast that it didn't have a chance to get an image of the curent view.
