Existing forms not updating with the latest schema

    Hi ,

I have a scenario where in i have a client form and i need to upgrade an existing forms library with a new template. For this we are publishing the new template again and then relinking all the existng documents. When i open the existing forms then i can see new schema but if i just close the form (without uploading) and check the xml schema of the form then the new fields are not displayed.

The exact business scenario why i need this is: We'll publish the latest template with lots of new fields which are promted as editable fields in the form library. Users will come and without openning the form, click on Edit properties of that form and will try to update values of these new fields. In this case it fails and gives an error as we dont have those fields yet in my form schema.

Error which i am getting is: Document is missing XML elements or attributes where the changes would be saved . Try editing the document in a WSS compatible XML editor such as Microsoft Office Infopath.

Is there a way i can update the schema without openning all the forms?

    Hi,

Make Sure that On version Upgrade value should be Automatically Upgrade Existing Forms.

For this please follow the below Steps.

    Open Form in Design Mode.

Go to Tools -> Form Options ->Versioning.

In that select On Version Upgrade DropDown Value to Automatically Upgrade Existing Forms.
