    Controlling visibility of control using XML

    I understand that the XSN form is what controls the UI elements on a Infopath form and the XML itself is just a data container. In my case, i merely create the XML programtically. I was wondering if i can set some element in the XML using which i can make a control readonly. Is it possible?

    Hi,

    By using xml we cannot make a control Read-only.

    You can do it in .xsl by adding attribute xd:disableEditing="yes".

    well we only generate the XML at runtime and will notbe able to make edits to XSL. Is it possible to make a textbox readonly if a checkbox is clicked or in response to click of some other ui element?

    Hi Suraj,

    Open the form in design mode.

    Add a conditional formatting for the field (let say filed1) which you want to make read only by checking a check box. To do that follow the below steps.

    1.       Go to the field1 properties and Go to Display tab.

    2.       Click on conditional formatting and the following expression.

    a.       my:field2 = string(true())

    here field2 -> check box

    3.       Check the read only check box and then click ok to close the windows.
