    Approved Infopath form + sharepoint

    Hi

I am designing a Change Control form for my work and need to have my boss approve the form before i can do anything

at the moment when i submit the form on sharepoint an alert get generated and email to my boss. What we would like to happen is when sharepoint submits the form to my boss he can perform some form of Authenication process (e.g. clicking on a link in the alert email or logging onto sharpeoint to approve). Until this approval takes place i need the form to be locked so no one else can edited, and once he has approved it some sort of FIELD change to state this

     Any help would be great.

      Hi,

    This might help you:

        I.            Add two user roles to the form:

    a.       One as Default role and other is ‘Boss’(Add Boss name to this role).

II.            Create two views in form one as Read-only and the other is editable (Default).

    a.       Get the status into form from share point you have to take a SharePoint list data connection.

III.            Set the ‘Rules’ given below. (Tools->Form Options-> Open and Save->Rules)

    a.       Rule1:

                                                                  i.      Condition:

    1.       User current role equal to ‘Default and

    2.       Status field equal to ‘In Progress’

    3.       Action: Switch to view’ Read-only’

You could use the three-state work flow (or Approval Workflow depending on your version of SharePoint) within SharePoint to do your alerts/etc.  I am not sure if this will "lock" the request until your boss approves it.  I think it does this, but I haven't tested.
