I need to have the default value of a Date field be the first day of the month prior to the current day.

For example when the form is opened on September 19, 2008. I want the default value in the date field that shows up to be August 1, 2008.

I currently have a fix for this where I use the formula

addDays(today()), -28)

this works for now, but because of internal purposes it would be great if there was a way to have the box auto fill with the first day of the previous month.

I just posted a sample for this here. Basically, it uses a conditional default for a 'helper' field called month (used for the sake of simplicity) and then rules to set the date. I tested it for January values as well.
