Rich Text Control - Read Only

    My Rich Text nightmares continue...

having eventually bound the rich text to an xml node via my webservice. It now renders it as read-only when i run it. Therefore i cannot edit the text and save.

    Any help put there?

    Hi Travis,
I haven't read all of your posts here, but there have been many other threads regarding Rich Text and SQL. In fact, I believe Jim Cantwell posted an XSL recently for converting rich text into XML that InfoPath could use. Please search for him in the members area and review his recent posts. Also, search for "rich text control" in the search pane and see if anything pops up. If you have already done this, I apologize. Please let me know, and give us more details about what you are doing and what is happening and we will try to help.

Re: Rich Text Control - Read Only

    Hi Patrick,

I have searched on Rich Text on this forum and other sites. Here is the scenario:

I have 2 rich text fields which will be filled in from Info path.
On Submit the data will be passed to webservice and then stored in SQL Server
InfoPath requires to retrieve existing rich text data as well as entering new

I have achieved most of this by storing the Rich Text Box xml string in SQL server and binding the Rich Text Boxes to an Xml Node which is returned by the web service.
This seems to work ok, however when existing Rich Text is returned from the web service the Rich Text Box becomes read-only.

If there is an easier solution to what i am doing i would be grateful to any suggestions.

    Best Regards

    Travis

    Hi Travis,

Dont bind the RichTextBox directly to the XML node returned by the webservice.

Keep the Rich textbox field in the main datasource.

Once the data is returned by the webservice, transfer the data from the XML node returned by webservice to the Rich Textbox field in the main datasource.

    regards,
    Abhishek

Im doing that and it still makes it read-only.
