    Infopath needed in sharepoint

    hi ,

Is infopath required to make an infopath document in sharepoint ?

because i made a timesheet in infopath and published it into sharepoint. But can people use that timesheet in sharepoint then without having infopath ?

InfoPath is required especially if they are opening a new form from SharePoint. There are ways to get around it. However, without Infopath, its a hack job and too complex for basic users.

    1) If they are opening an existing form (xml), then they may get away with some type of xml editor.

    2) If they launch a brand new timesheet by double clicking the .xsn file, they can go into the .xsn using winzip, modify the manifest file and zipping it back to a .xsn file.

    Hi,

What i understood is that you want user to user the Infopath form in the sharepoint environment only. if yes then you can make your form browser based and then create one web part page in the sharepoint environment. Add XMLFormview web part on that form and then you can dsiplay your infopath form insode the XMLFormview webpart. Thus user will be working in the sharepoint environment only and using your infopath form.

Hope i am able to answer your question.

     thanks for the reply's.

i got it working now :)

but now i got another problem. The timesheet must be approved by an projectleader or a customer to check if the timesheet has been filled in right.

i found on the forum that there is a way to asign user roles to the form, but thats not browser  compatible.

so now my question is how do i make the form read only or not accessible for the employee when he submits the form or another button  ?

    thanks

    Hi,

You can create same view which will be readonly and when your form is being opened by customer you can switch the user to readonly view.

If you are using SharePoint, why not use workflow within SharePoint?
