using a calculated value from a sharepoint list inside a form, within a dataconnection

I have a web enabled InfoPath form using a drop down menu to select a file that is in a SharePoint document library.  I used a calculated value field, using the single line of text mode, to combine two fields, (a "file name" field and an "extension" field) so that I could bring this into InfoPath and link the file using a hyperlink.  The problem is that when I create or modify my Data Connection my combined field is not in the list of options.  Any ideas?

Unfortunately calculated fields are not available in data connections.

Typically you have to combine the data within the form.
