Question about Infopath, Contact Selector Controls and SharePoint Document (Form) library

Hello all, I am new to this forum.  I wanted to say thank you for some of the great posts that have helped be tremendously.

    My question (or scenario) is this;

I have an Browser-based infopath form in a SharePoint Form library.  It contains multiple Contact Selector Contorls, everything is working as intended.  I want to take it a step further.

I would like to create a library view with a filter based on the [Me] property so that users can filter the forms based on the Contact Selector controls and see the items that are assigned to them based on the data entered into the contact selector.

Is this possible?  Thanks in advance!

    Kevin

Not sure if this is clear.. I want the users to be able to filter the data to only provide items that are assigned to them via the Contact Control Selector.  This is while they are in the SharePoint library, not from the infopath form

So you want the forms to promote a field as a me column?

You could setup a custom view, which only would show the user the forms which they modified. This is done in SharePoint and is out of the box functionality.

Often there is some assignment field in the form that you want to use rather than who last submitted. So that the user assigned will see the form.

This workflow can be done a number of ways but I believe there are some posts out there on how to get Sharepoint to treat a promoted name field as a Me type.

Thank you Mr. Fox for the reply, I see that your pretty busy on these forums.  I know that I along with countless others appricate your support!

I have been using the Created By column to filter out the ME property since what management hopes to accomplish is the Assigned to field (person who created the document), this works but is not ideal in there scenario.  I will start looking for info on how to promote a name field as a ME type.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

On a side note, if I may ask one more question.. is it possible to create an additional form (content type) that can report on the forms in the library above, and filter that info based on rules for a date range and maybe another field or two (ex. Vendor ID and PO number)

I've been looking for ways to accomplish this, however all the info that I find states that its not possible.  If needed I will be happy to post this as a seperate question.

Thanks again for your time and support!

Can you please share with me how you setup multiple contact selector controls on your form.  I'd greatly appreciate it. -Best, -Rick.

A post here or please email [email protected]

Update:  I found this method and it worked.  http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/sharepointinfopath/thread/7ff43138-99cd-49ec-b376-c7c31bc83600/

Please comment if you feel there is a better way and \ or more complete documented approach.

Kevin,  thank you for the email reply.  Yes,  I used these steps successfully.  I'll now share your steps with the world.... :)   -Best, -Rick.

How to setup multiple contact selectors on a single infopath form:

    1.       Setup the contact selector as stated here: http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/02/28/using-the-contact-selector-control.aspx

    2.       Now create a new non-repeating group (this will be your second contact selector)

    3.       Click on the top-level group you created for the contact control in step 1. Right click on the top-level folder, then select reference then select the non-repeating group you created in step 2.

    4.       Drag-n-drop the second contact control (via the top level folder) to your form and  when prompted select the contact selector option.

You can repeat these steps to have as many selectors as you want.  Hope this helps.  If it does, please respond to the forum post you created.
