add data to access with infopath

    Hi All!

I am working on an InfoPath Form and i am using xml as the main data source, and an acess database as a secondary data

i want, based on some calculations to modify or add data in the access database.

i made a button that suppose to change a data in a field in the secondary source (Access) but it made the change only in the infopath field the connects to the access data, it does not made actual change in the access database itself!

i dont have the option to make a button and configure it to submit data in access.

so what do i do? how do i insert data to access when the access is the secondery data source?

    Thanks! :)

You do have this ability but it is somewhat limited.

    Create a new form

Selct it to be based on a database

    Browse to your Access table

The wizard will create a form which can both query and submit to the table.

Your XML data source would need to be the secondary then.

For greater flexibility you need to use SQL and Web services. Then you can do about whatever you want to manipulate table data.

Hi Clay Fox, Thank you for replaying

i know i can add data if i use access as primary source, but i already created a whole large form with lots of field base on XML as Primary Data, and i need acces for ceretian use only, isnt there another way?

how do i use web service to mannipulate data on access?

    thanks.

That is the great thing about web services, you do not have to start over. The only way otherwise, with the default connectivity, is to start from scratch.

You could use code to do it but that is difficult to setup and maintain.

For web services you have to at least use SQL Express.

Qdabra.com has a whole package of web services so that you can get what you need right from an install with SQL Express.
