    Cannot switch views on Submit

I am using IP 2003 and emailing results (xsn files).

On a new form I have, upon submit I set a field "IsSubmitted" to Yes and
then in the Tools > Forms Options> Open and Save Rules, I have it set to
swtitch views based on this field.

But now I need to send a courtesy copy of the form to a third party and I
need to create a third view.

When I set a rule on the submit button to switch views (to the third view)
and send to the notification email, the view does not switch.

If I remove the forms rule, the submit button changes do not work prior to
    emailing the form.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you for your Help.

    Maybe a simpler question

If you switch a to a new view before submitting via email, why doesnt the new view remain?

    Thank you for your Help.

Re: Cannot switch views on Submit

    Hello:

I'm having a little trouble replicating this. I created and published a form that has View 1 as a default, added a field called isSubmitted, set it to true when I submit via email and based an open rule off that field's value to open the form in View 2 if it is true. The submitted form, when I get it in my email, opens in View 2. What are the rules you currently have set and your desired outcome?

I agree what you did does work but what I am trying to do is this:

On Submit - change view to view 2 and then submit to user 2

Then set a new rule on the same submit button to change to view 3 and submit to user 3

Then a thiurd rule to close the form.

Sequential rules on the submit button

I am not using the form rules off the tool bar.

    Thank you for your Help.

And is the form sent as an attachment in the email? And it is to open in View 2 for User 2, and View 3 for User 3? Or is the data connection to send the active view of the form and no attachment?

Yes the form is sent as an attachment to the email using IP 2003.

This is what I want (And it is to open in View 2 for User 2, and View 3 for User 3) but not sure how to do or what I am doing wrong.

I did not set anything in the data connection.  Is there something I shoud be setting to get what I want?

    Thank you for your Help.

I didn't mean to confuse things by bringing up the data connection -- I'm not sure about IP 2003, but in 2007, you have some choices when you set up your email submit -- you can either include the form as an attachment, or just send the current view in the body of the email. I think it may be easiest to use User Roles for this -- add User 2 to one role and User 3 to another and set your Open rule switch view action based on the user role. For more on user roles in IP 2003: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath/HP011066061033.aspx

    I actually understand that!!

My only issue is that when I put the three users into the role, if one of them leaves the company, it becomes a manual change to the form to add their replacement.

Getting our AD group to set up a special group is not easily doable.

    Thanks for your help.

Now I have a ton of coding to do.

    Thank you for your Help.

Just wanted to come back and say thanks.

With roles and some creative conditions, the form now works.

Re: Cannot switch views on Submit

    Hi,

Can you follow the below steps: Add following rules for first view button.
    1. First add one rule to submit the form.
    2. Then add rule to switch views. [Switch to the second view]
For second view button, add following rules.
    1. First add rule to submit.
    2. Then add rule to set the “switchView” field as “View3”.
      1. Add one hidden field (Field name as switchView) to the schema.
    3. After that add rule to close the form.
Follow the below rule to open the form in “view3”.1.      Go to Tools-> Form Options.2.      In Open and save tab, Click on Rules button.3.      Click on Add and then click on Set Condition button.4.      If “switchView” is equal to ‘View35.      Click Add Action. Select Switch View in Action drop down and select the “View3” view name in the View drop down.

Clear or set another value in the “switchView” field while closing the form after we entered data in view3.

I've been trying to create a read-only view form as an attachment, but can't get it to work. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
