    Paging in infopath form

Is there a way to include paging mechanism in infopath form? I have a repeating table which is populated with rows from the database. If the number of rows exceed a certain limit the remaining rows should be displayed in another page.If views can be used for this purpose then is there a way to dynamically create a view by using code depending on the number of rows to be displayed in the form?????

With webservices you can dynamically query and therefore implement true paging.

Without webservices, InfoPath dataconnections load all of the data from a data source, so from a performance standpoint you can not gain anything.

From the user perspective, you can either put a repeating table in a scrolling section and allow the user to scroll the records without scrolling the form.

Or use multiple repeating table controls bound to the same data and conditional formatting to only show a subset of the record set.

Then in the next repeating table control, show the next group of records and so on.

Actually i wanted to display say first 10 records retrieved from the database in one view and if the user wishes to see more records he can press the 'Next' button to switch to say another view which would display say the other 10 records and so on. Is there a way to write code to accomplish this purpose?? If i can include the same repeating table in the next view then how do i link the repeating table in one view to the other view????

You can do it without code.

Add a field to store the current record set or row ID.

Put some next and previous buttons that update this field.

Set your conditional formatting on the repeating table to hide what is not within 10 records of the field.

This gives you what you describe.

You may need to use an ID field or count function depending on your data.

     Hi Clay,

As you told that paging can be easily handled with out code in InfoPath. I would greatly appreciate if you could explain me the step by step process. I want to implement 2 types of paging as below.

    1) To view all the records in list format. Like gridview in ASP.NET.

    2) To view one record at a time. The record will be filled in a form. I will have Next/Prev button. based on the buttons clicked the next/Prev record will be fetched from database using web service or from the local store like dataset or something like that and data will be displayed.

So please assist me to develop this functionality in InfoPath.
