    Master Detail Help

    Firstly can I say sorry for the question as I know that this is quite a common issue.

     I have two tables in my database. tblOrders and tblOrderTracking

    tblOrders keeps all of the orders that are put in by my company and tblOrderTracking keeps a log of all the actions paced against the orders.

     I am trying to create a read-only Infopath document for all users to view the status of their orders online.

     I am having trouble creating a "subform" type effect that you would have in access where you would show the order details and then underneath in the subform you would show all the comments that are related to the order.

    tblOrders comprises of

    id = (Autonumber)  ,  orderRef=(Order number) , Description=(Memo)

    tblOrderTracking comprises of

    id=(Autonumber) , orderrefid=(Number link to tblOrders id) , Comment=(memo)

    Any help would be greatly appreciated as when I try to creat a master detail table on Infopath they will not go to different tables.

     Thank You

    Keith

    Is this an existing database?

    There should be a relationship between the two tables.

    You should be able to design a new form.

    Based on the orders table, add a second table which is tracking and define the relationship.

    The default form, if you drag everything on should be able to show you this in two repeating tables.

    Enter an order number and you would get the order record and any tracking(child) records.

    It sounds like that is the basics of your form.

    You can hide parts of this data and spread it across multiple views.

    It is an existing database that I have been working on for around 2 years with Access 2003.

    I can design a new form

    How do I add a second table that is tracking? I have added both the tables in the data connections part of infopath but can not see how to define the relationships.

    Is there any web-sites that you know of that would explain this or show screen shots, or could you be more specific in how I set the page up with the relationships.

    Sorry to sound like such a pain but I have my peers wanting a design and I just can't seem to get over this hurdle.

     Thank You
