    Data Filtering???

I have only known about InfoPath's existence for about two weeks so please have patience and forgive my "NewbieNess"

I have created a form that is linked to an access DB to gather employee information.  It does everything i could ask except...

in the data field the query is asked to return dates of the previous employee evaluations from an access table.  it does what it's suppossed to and returns ALL of the dates, going back for years.  I would like it to show only the previous two evaluations.  i have searched and searched and just can't figure out how to do this.  one other thing,  i have very limited programming knowledge so please be basic in your response.

The DB has the following tables.  TTD_ID, TTD_Date, Emp_ID,

    Welcome to InfoPath!

Unfortunatly the basic database connectivity is limited. If you think you are going to really leverage InfoPath, with databases and do it right and easy for a non programmer I would recommend web services.  You can learn more at www.qdabra.com.

You can not query a date range in the default connection, but can with web services.

The only think you could do is add a field to your table which would flag the most current two records for each employee. Then you would need a backend process or in your form unflag the second oldest record when a new one was inserted.  Then yoiu could query by employee and flag = current or whatever.

unfortunately for me getting more software is probably not an option.  I work for the Fed Gov and the bureaucracy involved in getting more software approved would be a nightmare.  i have an access DB query that returns the correct results (ie. only the last two evals) but when i try that query in infopath i get the last two evals for EVERY employee, not just the one that i have selected.  guess i'll look for another solution.  thanks for responding.

I have spent my time in government and understand.

I think the lobbying and work can be worth it but it is a hard slog.

It certainly can be a challenge trying to make things work with a limited tool set.

It sounds like you just need to improve your query to also filter by the employee too.

You can do this dynamically in code to concatenate the data into the select statement.
