    Filter and paging through data

I am cutting and pasting from Greg Collins Paged Master-Detail Table to get my idea to work.  What I want to do is to have some icons that will advance the data forward and backward.  I am having trouble getting the filter to work.  Here is the layout from Greg’s DB.   Page(secondary)
        NumberOfRows
        StartingRows

        ShowFullLastPage Here are the filters
    position() >= xdXDocument:GetDOM("Page")/Page/StartingRow andposition() < xdXDocument:GetDOM("Page")/Page/StartingRow + xdXDocument:GetDOM("Page")/Page/NumberOfRows  Here is my layout.Main
        datafields

    TOTALS

    NumberOfRows

    StartingRows
                CashApp

    Field1
Field2 etc My question is how do I modify the above filter to work on my layout?  In gregs example he was filtering the master record in mine I want to filter the detail as indicated by Cashapp and the fields below it.A secondary question I have is my data loads rather slowly.  Will setting it up with a filter and the ability to page through my data improve speed? Thanks in AdvanceRandy

Re: Filter and paging through data

With 2007 you can right click a field in the dat source and copy the xpath to get the exact syntax to the field.

As far as performance, by default a secondary data source cannot be queried. You have to load the entire data set and then filter it within InfoPath.

This can often be an issue with large data sets.

Best practice is to use web services so that you can dynamically query with secondary data sources.

So unfortunately, no, performance will not improve other than if you hide the data in the view by default which can speed up the page display but not the data load.

How would that work in 2003.  That is what I have.  I do not have a secondary data source in mine.  I have only one how does that impact performance.

    Thanks
