View issue - database connection and without data connection

    Hi Guys,

The scenario is this...  My company employees are all around the state.  I need to do some data collection for a survey and they all dont have the network drive.  I have decided to have 2 views.

View 1 - email the information through infopath form to me.

View 2 - submit the information into the access database.

How can I bring both the view into one form?  I tried bringing them together and I noticed that it still has data connection and when I try to open in the non network computers its asking for the data connection.

    Any ideas or suggestion welcome?

    Thanks

    Hi Dave.

In 2007 you can make data connections off-line but I am not sure this is possible with the default Access connections. If you were using SQL Express and web services that could work.

Probably the best would be to have two form versions.

One online, which I think you already have.

One that is similar in Schema but is for off-line.

Then setup on-line form to connect to saved XML from off-line form and import it and then submit.

So the on-line form will have an XML data source and consume the saved documents from off-line and inject the data in you data fields and then submit it.

There are some other methods but that is probably the simplest.

    Hi Clay,

Thanks for the information.  I am new to Infopath and I am struggling a bit.  In the past I have done VBA and VB coding, I thought Infopath will be similar.  Lots have changed.  I took your suggestion and I have created two files.  One for collecting the survey from the users around the state and then second for downloading the data into the MS Access database.

Is there anyway I can use SQL statement to insert the data into the MS Access database?  If possible, please give me all the code possible. I have no clue where to start.

    Thanks

    Dave
