InfoPath Dev

I have bound a text box all three of the other strings (DisplayName, AccountID, AccountType) and those call the data just fine.  I don't follow the article since it's talking about pulling data from a repeating table.  I want it to pull from AD?

I hope I don't sound too Infopath illiterate.............

So if there is a repeating table already constructed with AD info, the rest should work?  I think we might have something like that already made.

It's sad to say that I am not a designer and our web dev section is lagging behind me as I learn-as-I-go.  I appreciate all your help.

Hi Riehmc and welcome,

Why can't you use a filter or query just the current user's info? Our AD Web service works well in these scenarios and there is a free trial available. http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/ADWebService.aspx

So I messed with the idea of the repeating table from one of the other blogs and that has clarified everthing up.  I am well on my way, next thing is to use the supervisor field to start the workflow.  One thing at a time.

Now that your blog makes perfect sense after I looked into the repeating table suggestion, I noticed that you can't publish a browser-enabled version.  Have you figured out any workarounds?

It does work with browser enabled forms. But Control Selector isn't a good control to trigger the siquence of events. In my case I moved all rules from Control Selector to the submit button.

BTW where you noticed I can't publish a browser-enabled version?

I misread your blog.  I did use your instructions at first but then ran into problems having multiple contact selectors changing other textboxes that pull data from the repeating tables.  I started using this blog to give it a try

What I've got now is a form that populates the users info for them.  But this is causing an error.  Would the 2nd data source be causing the conflict?

What's the error you are seeing?

Thanks for the link. Too bad that calling MOSS webservice requires full trust since that will complicate deployment of browser based forms slightly.

Oddly enough my form capable to call MOSS websevice having only domain trust level. Well... probably I have different version of MOSS server :)

The form template could not be browswer enabled, but it was successfully published for use with Microsoft Office InfoPath.

Once the form is opened, this is the detailed error message "An error occurred accessing a data source."

So I figure it had something to do with the trust issue when opening the data source.  Any workarounds?

Know of any way to use a text field (i.e. SupervisorName) and use the entry to add this person to the workflow as an approver?

Currently only static entries are allowed through the wizard and I was trying to get said supervisor to approve from before final copy sent to HelpDesk.

This blog provides steps on how to use the contact selector to get other details such as manager, department, title etc http://www.myriadtech.com.au/blog/Alana/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=15
