    Programmatically Hide Submit

Is there a way to programmatically hide the Submit button that is generated by infopath in the header of a web-based form?  I realize you can create a button and use conditional formatting on that, but I'm looking to use the default built in submit button (in the header or footer).  Or is there a way to at least disable it programmatically?

Is this a browser based form? In either the InfoPath toolbar or the browser based forms you have the ability to turn them on or off. There is no easy way to have them conditional or any other control over them. it would take some serious mucking with the program to do this and this is not justified when you can provide you own just a little lower or higher than these stock buttons.

Your option is to use the default toolbar buttons provided or have your own buttons if you need more functionality and control. Often hiding these until the form is complete and verified is common.

Yes, browser forms.  Hmm-- ok.  My alternative was to use conditions in the submit rules.  However, this doesn't seem to be working.  Does this not work in browser based forms?

This should work in browser forms.

Were you adding conditional formatting so that the submit would be hidden based on field values? This should be fine in a browser form. You also can put your button in a section and then place the confitional formatting on the section instead.

You also should be able to have conditions on the rules of the submit button to create your logic.

Email me if you would like to see a browser based example.

I suppose I will need to just create my own buttons.  However, is there a straightforward way to mimic the stock Print View button?

I have not tried to replace the print view button. I believe it would just switch to the view set for printing.  I would think you could just have a button that switched views to the appropriate view.
