Can I publish a Browser form without getting into Central Admin

    Hi,

I own a Sharepoint site. But I do not have access to Central Admin of the server. In my site I have a Form Library under which I want to publish an Infopath form. Right now the form is a Smart client and it works just fine. I am in the process of converting the form into a browser based form. The documentation talks about getting into Central Admin to upload the Xsn file and publish to Site Collection for the form to be available as a Browser form. Is there any way I can publish the form to my form library and yet make it accessible on the browser.

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks and regards

    B

    Hey B.

If it does not have code then you should be able to publish it without admin assistance.

The Design Checker will tell you whether it will require admin approval.

Obviously you need IPFS and other requirements enabled for browser based forms but you should not need admin rights.

    Hey B,

I believe Clay has made the point. If the Infopath form does not use any VSTA Code, you can publish it to your sharepoint site without Admin Approval by making the Trust Level of the form as "Domain Level".

Let me guide you the Process to do that,

    1. Open your infopath form, point to Tools -> Form Options -> Security and trust.

    2. Uncheck the "Automatically detect Security level" and forcibly make it to point "Domain".

3.Set the Site collection URL to "Compatibility" section, where you want to publish the Infopath form.(Eg:http://serverName:port or http://abc.com)

4.Click on "Design Checker" on the RHS of Infopath form "Design Tasks" pane.(Make sure 0 errors)

5.Save the infopath form and Publish the same.

    To Publish the form:

Go to File -> Publish -> To a Sharepoint Server With or Without Infopath Services -> Set the Site Collection URL ->Check the "Enable this form to be filled out By Browser" -> Document Library -> Update the form library U want to contain the Infopath form.

Now in infopath form library, where u ve published the Infopath,

Go to library setting->Advanced Settings->Allow Managemet of Content types(Say Yes) ->Display as Web Page

Bingo, this will open your Infopath form in Browser.

NOTE : If you are making the Trust level of Infopath as Domain Level,No need for Admin Approval nad hence no need of Central Administration and for Full Level security the reverse is true.

As mentioned by the previous members, if your form does not contain any code you should be able to publish it directly to the form library of the site.  However, if you have code and are looking for an alternative to using the Central Admin UI to upload the form I've included a Powershell script that I use to publish my forrms.  If you use Powershell ISE, which can find if type in Powershell off the start menu, you can run the script directly from there.  Here's a link to TechNet describing it.  It is not installed by default on WIndows 2008 R2 by can be added as Feature.

     Hope this helps.
