Sharing fields between different InfoPath forms

    Hi,

I have to automatically create one or more infopath forms of type B from an infopath form of type A. Some information from form A will be displayed in form(s) B as read only fields. I of course do not want to copy the data to the new form which would mean data duplication.

Additionally form B will have some fields that belong only to form B and that be editable. What is the best way to do this in InfoPath 2007? I am using browser enabled forms.Regards,Mario

    Hi Mario.

My first recomendation would be to use a backend database to save information from form A and access it in form B.

This could also be done a couple different ways in Sharepoint.

Another option is to use the xml from form A as a data source for form B but this would probably be difficult with browser based forms.

    Hi Clay,

Thanks for your reply. At the moment I will approach it the following way:

The user will create the form B by a button click action while having form A open. At the click event I can call a web service and pass the ItemID of form A as parameter or the form itself, use the data from form A in the Web Service and create the new form B with these information by using the MOSS object Model.

Sounds simple but I am sure I will hit some walls.

    Regards

    Mario
