Modfied Access Database and now unable to open old saved versions of the Form - Infopath 2003

    Hi all,

Im new to infopath, but up until now i have managed to work out any previous issues all on my "onesies". However i have made the following error and i am unsure how to move forward.

I have an Infopath 2003 form pointing to an Access Backend. My forms have been working fine with this database submitting and querying data with no major issues. The form is a change control form and basically a user submits the form which can include an attachment (e.g Excel doc). When i receive this in my mail box i save the delivered XML form to a Folder. So basically i have a folder with 300+ XML forms, some with embedded attachment files.

Last week i looked at my database and realised that i wasnt using all the fields in my main table, so i first modifed my form and removed any reference to these fields in the data connections and then proceeded to delete them from the table.  The problem now, is that when i go to open an old form i get an error saying that it needed one of the files i had just deleted !!. I then proceeded to put back all fields i had deleted and modified my form to reference them again and re published the form. Now when i try and open an old form, i get the following error :

Element '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/ado/queryFields}RFC_Go_Live' is unexpected according to content model of parent element '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/dataFormSolution}queryFields'.

My concern here is not that i cant open all the old XML forms, as i can query the database from a new Form and get back the data,... its the forms that have the embedded attachments, that i need to open and there are about 50 of them.

Can anybody help ?.... my apologies for the long post ..

It looks like one of your added fields still does not match.  The RFC_Go_Live.

You also need to run throught the data connection wizard on your main connection to clean up the data connection.  That way it won't be expecting more fields than you have, this may have been the issue when you deleted them originally.

You can open a problem form in Notepad and then audit the fields to make sure they match and are accounted form in your current template.

Thank you so much Clay for your help, it proved very helpful.

I eventually managed to resolve the issue. I went back to an old version of the form, which then allowed me to open all my historic forms. All the entries submitted with the corrupted form, i simply queried them with the new form and emailed them to myself  and archived. I then had 6 forms with attachments, so going off your advise i used a "valid" historic form as a template, then edited the corrupted form and copied the "attachment" information to the template and saved it. I was then able to open the template and retrive the attachment document populate the form via a query with the relevant data and save the form.

Im sure there was a simplier solution but i got there in the end.

I was also wondering if the following is possible,.. when a form is submiited (i use buttons for this to submit to my database and and send an email), can i also get it to save a copy of the form to a network folder ?. Even better would be if it could strip out the attachment and save that to a folder also ?
