    Infopath and sql server

    Hi all

Thought I was a relatively intelligent chap but I am struggling terribly. It has taken me two months of battling to set up the main database accelerator. Now, despite following instructions as best as possible, I am still lost.

I am running windows xp tablet pc edition

I have SQL server express working happily

    Qdabra is installed and working

I have a SQL server database that contains images as binary data

I have a piece of software that accesses that database in a very limited manner to print reports

    My objective is as follows:

I want to create a web service based on a SQL server view.

I want to create an infopath form that will allow me to enter a unique ID and when I press submit, I want to see an image returned onto the form. (Essentially, we will enter the patient's hospital number and the intern's handwritten notes will come up on the form.)

Background: I am setting up a electronic medical record for our academic surgical unit. We have a free version of an EMR into which we enter data (both as text and as binary data) The reporting options are quite limited as as such I am hoping that I can create an more customised infopath form which will allow for more suitable reports for us. As such, I want to use the form more for retrieving data from the SQL server database than submitting data. The company that created the EMR wants to charge me an unaffordable amount to customise reports. If Qdabra can work for us, it will end up being an affordable option.

    Thanks

    Dean Lutrin

ps- If the nature of my questions shows a level of ignorance that makes you think 'this guy is way beyond his depth' please let me know and I will give up sooner rather than later.

    Re: Infopath and sql server

    Hi Dean.

Why don't you send me an email and we can discuss what your requirements are.

We have several healthcare facilities that use our product in a similar way to record patient visit information. Some use it in conjunction with a paper chart and others with a completely electronic chart.

What you are describing is doable and we can run throught the exact architecture.
