Access Denied Error Calling SharePoint Data Connection Library Web Services

I've been struggling with this error for awhile now and I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.  I saw another post for this same issue, but it doesn't look like it was answered.  My apologies for the long post...

When trying to open a new instance of an InfoPath form I created, I am getting two error messages.
    The first error message is:
    The file or folder name
'http://server/_layouts/GetDataConnectionFile.aspx?Udc=GetAllOfficeLocations.udcx&Urn=urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:ITServiceRequests:-myXSD-2008-01-31T17-03-18&Version=1.0.0.153' contains characters that are not permitted.  Enter a different name.

When I hit OK, I get this message next:
This form requires connections to data sources when it is loaded.  At least one of these connections is not available.  As specified by the form designer, this form will not open.

Here are the details of the second error message:
InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form.
InfoPath cannot open the form. To fix this problem, contact your system administrator.
    Form template: http://server/apps/self_service/ITServiceRequests/Forms/template.xsn
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: GetAllOfficeLocations
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
Access to the connection file http://service/_layouts/GetDataConnectionFile.aspx is denied.

So what characters are not permitted?  And is access denied only because I set up the form to not open if the data connections cannot be queried to populate the drop down lists on the form or do I have a separate issue actually accessing the data connections?

Here is some background info on what I've done so far...

I have an InfoPath form that I am publishing to a server running MOSS and Forms Services.  Within the InfoPath form, I have numerous data connections that hook up to web services I wrote running on another server.  The web services are configured as data connections within my InfoPath form and some of them are called on form load to populate drop down lists with data from the database.  The remaining web services are configured to submit data to the same database when the user submits the form.

I have published the data connections to a Data Connection Library within SharePoint and they have been approved.  I did this to avoid the Microsoft Office InfoPath Security message that is displayed each time the form is opened.  The first data connection called is GetAllOfficeLocations and here is the XML in SharePoint for that data connection:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <?MicrosoftWindowsSharePointServices ContentTypeID="0x010100B4CBD48E029A4ad8B62CB0E41868F2B0"?>

I mentioned this in a different post, but never heard back whether it did anything...

f(clean); seems to be out of place here. I don't have it in my data connection. I'm not sure where it come from or what it does. Try removing it and reuploading your udcx file to see if that makes a difference. Let us know the results.

I'm not exactly sure where the f(clean); is coming from.  When I look at the XML for my data connections within SharePoint, I don't see it.

I'm pasting the connection XML below again to see if it is added somehow when the post is added to this site.

      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

It looks like the f(clean); shows up when the post is added to the InfoPathDev site as it's not in my connection XML on SharePoint and it doesn't show up when I paste the XML into my message, but when I submit my message to the site, the f(clean); is added for some reason - possibly some encoding the site does to keep users from embedding Javascript that will run on the server?

Re: Access Denied Error Calling SharePoint Data Connection Library Web Services

When I converted the data connections in my form to udcx connections in SharePoint, I selected the "Centrally managed connection library" data connection file option as my Data Connection Library in SharePoint is a generic document library that the entire SharePoint site uses.

When I went back and modified the connection to connect to a "Local data connection library" (the other option on the Connection Options screen for the converted data connection) and then republished my form, I no longer got the error messages I was getting before.

I am still getting a Microsoft Office InfoPath Security Notice that the form is connecting to data sources on another site, which is what I was trying to avoid by converting my data connections to SharePoint udcx connections, but I am at least not getting the same error messages described above.

Here's a similar thread started by user "agoodwin" who seems to have resolved his issue. Perhaps you can get assistance from him:

I'm not sure what stage you're at in troubleshooting this now, but to start with, here's a simple locations checklist for the forms templates and associated connections/config:

    Central Administration > Applications:

    1. Forms Services Configuration: http://server:12345/_admin/ipfsConfig.aspx
     - Key settings for connections & authentication
    2. Manage Form Templates: http://server:12345/_admin/ManageFormTemplates.aspx
     - Upload, and approve a browser enabled form.
     - Activate to a site collection
    3. Manage Data Connections: http://server:12345/_admin/ManageDataConnectionFiles.aspx
     - Upload and web enable data connection files (.udcx)
     - Save and upload udcx files from step 5

    Site Administration:

    4. Form Templates: http://server/FormServerTemplates
     - This is auto populated from step 2.
    5. Data Connection Library: http://server/Sales%20Data%20Connections/
     - Target location to publish converted web services data connections from InfoPath
     - Default Approval required.
    6. Form Library: http://server/site/Library
     - Set library advanced settings - enable management of content types
     - Specify the published & deployed form template from the ‘select from existing site content types’

Double-check your configuration/publishing from InfoPath and run the form again.

Also, be sure to check the MOSS logs at the time you run the form to catch any errors. Set your MOSS event logging to catch as much info as possible:

In the Central Admin pages the diagnostic logging event throttling I set logging to:
     - Category: All
     - Least critical event to report to the event log: Warning
     - Least critical event to report to the trace log: Verbose
     - Number of log files: 30
     - Minutes to use log file: 5

Re: Access Denied Error Calling SharePoint Data Connection Library Web Services

    Same problem, slightly different presentation.

My form used webservices extensively, and had several connection files to connect to several different datapoints.

All of the other datapoints worked fine, but one.

I re uploaded the udcx (had a copy of it stored in a connection library on the server) to sharepoint central admin, ran the form again.

    Works fine.

Suggest either re-converting the connection and uploading or just uploading the connection file if you have a copy laying around.

Thanks infopath, you broke at the very worst possible time! GG.
