    Submitting a Form and Validation

    Hi All,

    I am using a button (submit - rules and custom code) to do the following in rules;

            Submit  using Data Connection - Validation to sharepoint libraryX

           Change Status = Submitted

          Submit using Data Connection -  submit to library X

     The first submit is just a test submit for validation, it is going to the same library as the final submit.  For some reason it is falling over for some people with the following error message - The form cannot be submitted to the following location: ************.xml The site may be offline, read-only, or otherwise unavailable.  Should the above work ok?  I cant understand it as it works ok for some users but not others, and its nothing to do with sharepoint libaray permissions.  Is there an easier way of doing the validation?

    Thanks

    Forgot to say that it is falling over on the validation bit not the final submit

    Hi there.

    So you are trying an initial submit to do a field check?  Any exposed field will show if you are using the validation within InfoPath on the field?  It would seem a bit redundant to do it this way but I am not sure your exact requirements.

    I am not sure why this should not work consistently, unless there are errors. Or just letting the final submit do the check.

    Hopefully someone else has a better answer than I do

    Thats correct, The problem I have is that when the status is changed to sent, it hides the submit button.  So I need to do a validation before the status change and then finally the actuall submit.

    I would check everything. There is not a good reason why one would work and the other would not. Verify your buttons are as similar as possible.  Also that some validation is not hanging it up.

    You might be able to put it all into one button with multiple rules.

    Submit

    Then change status

    then submit again.

    If the first submit fails the rest of the rules will not be processed.
