We store documents in SQL and just view them from SharePoint.  This way you can have history and full text search.  That may be an option for you.

    Hi Clay,

this is not really an option for me. I expected that MOSS has this as a build in feature.... :(

Is this a bug or a "by design" issue?

Exists any workaround for this issue?

I have not tried using search or versioning with a browser based form.

I am not sure why it would work any differently. I had assumed you had already verified this issue.

    Hi Gicio,

Can you explain what you are doing? Are you saving the XML forms to MOSS/SharePoint or to a separate database? MOSS supports search and that is completely independent of browser-based forms, so it should work fine. Did you configure search for the site? Did you configure search for the form library? What did you actually do? Are you trying to search from SharePoint or InfoPath? Did you set version history for the site? Version history should also not be a problem with Form Services. Did you read the articles on how to set it up? What's the error that you are receiving? Are you just asking us to point you at the articles? Or, would you rather have us just tell you what to do so you don't have to read anything?

We work hard to help people in this forum and we expect everyone will spend up to 30 minutes trying to figure stuff out themselves before just coming to us with questions. Did you spend 30 minutes on this? What did you do?

    Hi Patrick,

I spend OVER 1 day on this issue.... and belive me I read all stuff based on this issue that are available on this earth :) .

The search "hidden feature" ;) isn't so important at this point.

The important point is the issue with the version. And YES the MOSS is 100% correct configures for browser-based forms and also the Form Services is correct configures.

The InfoPath documents are save on the MOSS (default settings)...Save and opening (of the last version) of this document work fine...

BUT: when you are try to open an older version as the last browser-based forms doesn't work.... please try it self.

    Hello,

I encountered the same problem with the version history.
Opening a browser-enabled form both in the standard formview control as well as in a customized xmlformview control causes the following error:

"The following file is not a valid InfoPath form: /MyExampleSite/_vti_history/1024/myExampleDocLib/MyExampleFile.xml."

I suppose this is a bug in the formview control and it should be addressed to Microsoft.
Or it is a general sharepoint bug, because it is not possible to get the SPFile object of a history file neighter.

Or is there anyone who knows how it works?

    Regards,
    Ronald
