Error Message"Infopath cannot create a new Blank Form, you cannot create form based on this form template because the file has been copied or moved from its published location"

    Hi

I had created the Infopath form in 2005 and have published to the shared folder on the Network. It was working fine.

Recently our server's harddrive got  crashed in december 2007,  We had the backup, but we had to install the new hardrive and everthing had to be reinstalled on the server, including SQL SERVER 2000. Now all the installing was taken care by my program director.

Since then i found that when users opened the form to fill it they were having problems. What I did was I republished the same form at the same location. and when i test the form it works fine on the worstation where i published it. If I go on to other worstation and test to see it wont work i get the this message Error Message "Infopath cannot create a new Blank Form, you cannot create form based on this form template because the file has been copied or moved from its published location"

Then I thought of recreated the form, created a new folder in the SHARED DOCUMENTS, and published the form in NEW FOLDER. Now the users are able to open the form but when they submit the form they get a pop up window saying

     "SQL SERVER LOGIN

    Server name is listed

there is a check box selected  which has "Use trusted Connections"

and the Login below is grayed out , if i unceck the box above then user can log in and enter the password, but still they cannot submit form we get error as

    SQL State 42000

    SQL SERVER Error 18456

If I would have clicked Cancel then it will display " Infopath cannot connect to the data source

Could any body help me as I it only works on the worstation where i published the form.

    Thanks

    BK

I really dont remeber from which workstation I had desined the form and submitted it.

My guess from your description here is that the SQL permissions on your database have not been reconfigured properly and that not all of the form users have the write permissions they need.

You may need to go through designer and setup (modify) the main connection again and make sure the ODBC is correct.

    Hi Clay

I just checked the permission on the form and the form has been given the write permission.

Could you please help me or give me steps as to how do I  check or "go through designer and setup (modify) the main connection again and make sure the ODBC is correct"

    I will appreciate your help

    Thanks

    Go to tools

    Data Connections

    Select the main data connection

    select modify

walk through the wizard and select the data source again etc and this will refresh the conenction.

Keep going through each screen until it finishes.

    Hi Clay

I opened my Form in the design mode , the form which works and submits data as you know it only works on one workstation where it was desiged and published.

When I click on TOOLS , under TOOLS i get the following options

    Spelling

    Submitting Forms

Secondary Data Source ( nothing is selected when  you click on this option)

Resource Manager ( when I click on this option no resource files are selected)

I did not get the option call "data Connections"

Am i doing it right , please advise, as this has been a problem since 1.5 months and i am the person who has to fix this

    thanks

Looking back I think you said you are using Visual Studio??? or is it 2003?  I think i must be VS since you are not getting the same menu.  I think the data connections may be in a different menu.

Have you clicked the arrow at the bottom of the Tools list to make sure they are not hidden?(show all)

You should have a forms options, submit options, and data connections in the list when in design mode.

    Hi Clay

I checked and I do not have and arrow at the bottom of the Tools List, so there isnt any option called "data connections"

    Sorry about that.

I am at a loss. You say you do not have the standard menus in forms designer.  I believe you might be using Visual Studio instead.  Try using the help to find the data connections.

Re: Error Message"Infopath cannot create a new Blank Form, you cannot create form based on this form template because the file has been copied or moved from its published location"

For what it's worth, I had the same problem and found the solution. A form my intern created last year submits to our SQL 2005 server fine, while the one I just made last week give the same error listed above. Here's what I discovered:

When I tried to modify the data connection for the old form that submits successfully, I got a warning about a saved password in plain text. This same message did not pop up when I tried to modify the data connection for my new form. This was the ONLY difference between the two forms I could find. So here's what you can do to fix it:

1.)  On the fomr that won't submit, go to Tools>Data Connections

2.)  Select your Main Connection and hit Modify

    3.) Select "Change Database"

4.)  Click the "New Source" button

    5.)  Select SQL Server

6.)  Enter the Server Name, then tick the box for "Use the following username and password"

7.) Use an account that has rights to the database in question

    8.)  Select your database

9.) Now here's the important part. Make sure you tick the box for "Save Password In File" Without this, the SQL login box will pop up anytime a user tries to submit data!

It might not be totally secure, but if you make a special account for just that database and it's on a domain, you should be ok.

    Just my .02
