    Submit button

    Hello,

I'm pretty new to InfoPath and was hoping someone could help me. I've created a form by which a user can submit an event to a form library on SharePoint. There are a couple of problems, though:

    1. It would be easier for our users if I could place a "Submit" button at the bottom of the form, rather than have them manually save it to the form library. Is this possible?

    2. When saving, the user must come up with a file name for the event. Is there a way to skip this step and have the system automatically use the event name they've entered in the form? And if so, what would happen if an event name is duplicated? Could the system automatically append a number or something to the end to make it unique? (We're trying to make this as user-friendly as possible.)

    3. Another reason we want to avoid the step of manually saving the form is that the users aren't allowed to see the entire list of events. And in the "Save" dialog, all the events are visible. If it isn't possible to skip the "Save" step, is there some way to hide the existing events from view in the dialog box?

Any help on these issues would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Anna

You can add a button anywhere you need to. It can be made a Submit button, by changing its Action Property, Right click on it to do this.
You can automatically set a file name using data from fields. Just click Tools, Data Connections, select Main Submit, Modify, and then create an expression to build the file name.

    Hello
    Welcome to Infopathdev Forums.

You can also disable the Save and Save as by going to Tools|DataConnections|in the design Mode. Uncheck the Check box Save and Save as.

Also You can Save the Form with a GUID Functionality which is unique to each form.

Search In this forums and also take time to read the HowTo's and Tips and Tricks which will help you in building solutions with ease.
