    Active Directory

I am trying to read the user name of the loged on user from AD and I am getting a security permissions exeception.

Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

I do not want to use the web service. Any thoughts on why I would receive this error message? I am using VB.Net. and the OnLoad event handler

    Thanks,
    Gary

After modifing the form as you directed, I received a message that stated the form could not be fully trusted unless I installed it on my computer. Does this mean I have to publish it to my computer? Currently I am clicking on the preview button on the toolbar.

    Thanks

After publishing the form and trying to display the form, I receive the following messages.

The form template is trying to access files and settings on your computer. InfoPath cannot grant access to these files and settings because the form template is not fully trusted.

If I go back into design mode the form id fully trusted.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,

your error message says that your form requires full trust and you did not give full trust to your form. To avoid this you need give full trust to your form and sign the form with a digital signature.

I hope this will help you,

    Thanks.

    Hello,

It means you have to create an MSI using regform tool and then install it on your system.

Is this the only way I can test changes to the form? Can I make it fully trusted by adding a signed certificate?

    Thanks

    Try this, instead:

    Dim strName as string
    strName = System.Environment.UserName

Then use strName where ever you like, such as filling a text box.

It works for me, and I use vb.net.

Carolyn, thanks for the info. Unfortunately , I need to be able to get other infomation from AD. I will look at Environment object to see what other info it has.

    Thanks for the help

I understand, and had to face the same frustration. My client was not willing to go through what we needed for full trust forms, so I created an Access db with the employee information that was needed for the form, then used that. The login ID is the unique ID that links the Access db with the user name.

I have had no luck working with the AD and, essentially, gave up. (ie The client did not want to spend more money researching it.)

The version of Regform that comes with the Infopath 2003 Developer SDK does not work with Visual Studio 2005. I will look to see if there is a newer version. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Digital Certificates, but I guess it's time to find out. Thanks again for the help.
