Change Field to Required based on input from another field

Is there a way to change a field from not required to Required using a rule/code?  For example, if a user indicates that a form needs purchasing approval, I want the PurchasingApprover field to change from not-requred to Required.  Also, I'm trying to make this work with browser enabled forms, so the pop-ups won't work.

     Thanks,

    Jason

You can do this -- in the reverse. In otherwords, you can't force a required field to no longer be required... but you can use custom data validation (see field properties dialog) to make a non-required field now required. You will need to use this approachto accomplish what you want to do.
