    A Way to Tag Forms

Hello, I need my forms to be individually/uniquely numbered. I have managed to do this by attaching an access data base to my form-the database autonumbers a field which each form them adopts. however, I am curious as to whether there is a way to do this independently of other programs in infopath.

That's what GUIDs are for. Check out these posts:

i appreciate the response, unfortunantly i am a complete novice when it comes to infopath and even more so when it comes to dealing with the code. if someone could break it down step by step (what i type where) it would be greatly appreciated. also, once i have the guid set up, how do get it to be displayed? thank you.

Could you tell us a little more of what you are trying to do? Then we can give you step by step instructions. The most imporatant part is how your schema is setup and when you want to generate the randomly unique ID. Also, what node you want to put the GUID on. The node will need to be of string type and you can put the code behind a button or some other function, like maybe OnLoad.

I hope this helps, but please describe in a little more detail what you are trying to accomplish.
